Qualifications, Regulations, Compliance, Reviews.
There is no such thing as an unqualified electrician (self-styled)(mate who does a bit of electrics)(handyman who does a bit of wiring). These people are likely to cause you trouble. You have to KNOW what you are doing, you have to be licensed and you have to have a lot of insurance. It's also good to go with someone who has recommendations or good solid reviews.

Qualifications
I did an apprenticeship with a big firm call T.Clarke. I got work experience with seasoned electricians from day one alongside electrical theory which was taught at South East London College. I passed all my practical and Theory exams and when the powers saw fit, I passed out of my time and became a ECS Gold Card Electrician and still am one. Over the years I have gained qualifications in EV Charging and Fire Alarms
Regulation & Compliance
Just being an electrician is not enough anymore if you want to have an electrician company. You need to be registered with one of the UK's electrical governing bodies and you need a lot of public liability and Indemnity Insurance. You need to the regulations for building control and you need to know what requirements individual councils have for work in their districts. You need to know Landlord requirements and fire alarm regulations if your work takes you there.
